This sandwich construction has been specifically developed as a tree growth support system. It provides an effective way to create a secondary ground level (air layer), preventing root heave from damaging the overlying pavement over time. In addition, the load distribution ensures that the underlying layer of structural tree soil or tree aggregate is not compacted, allowing unrestricted root growth. The IT-Plus® Vario Treebox—also referred to as a tree crate—ensures stable load distribution in the subsoil and a minimally compacted growing medium, enabling unhindered root development. The tree crates can optionally be filled with a nutrient-rich mixture, ensuring that the underlying roots are continuously supplied with essential nutrients. Rainwater causes the inserted mixture to settle over time, resulting in the formation of a secondary ground level (air layer) after settlement. The thermally stable IT-Plus® Vario Treebox is available in various heights depending on the installation depth and offers high load-bearing capacity, low weight and maximum storage volume.
